Free Piano!

FREE PIANO! Roath, Cardiff. If anybody can realistically come and collect this piano by tonight or before 10 tomorrow, it's yours. It's extremely heavy, horrendously out of tune and has two bum notes. But it's great to whack out tunes on after a night out and makes your room look cool! Any takers?

ooh Fancy

we like to dress up

One week left!

I have just over a week left in the city that has been my home for the last three years so I'm going to be utterly irresponsible (when I'm not working) and enjoy what precious little time I have here with my chummies before I move back home. I will definitely be back because a) visiting is fun, and b) These people mean a hell of a lot to me :)

I'm glad I have these lovely people when I go home:

Red Light

You said you wanted
me to come over,
and even though it
was nearly midnight,
I agreed.
I hit every red light
between here and
your house: start
stop wait and wait
and wait and start
just to stop and wait
again, stuck listening to
weight-loss infomercials,
right-wing talk radio,
that god-awful jingle
for the lawyer that
tries to sound like
a wild-west cowboy.
Idling under these red
cyclops eyes, I wanted
to tell you that this had
to stop, that I was going
home, that I’d see you
tomorrow, maybe,
but I finished the drive
and remembered why:
the red scent of your hair;
your lips against my neck,
saying,
“I’m glad you’re here.
I’m so glad you’re here.”

Mr. Hughes

I wish the whole clip of this performance was online- it's great. We went to see Steve Hughes back in February and he was brilliant as usual. He is touring later in the year and I want to go again but I don't know where I will be so better wait and see :)

Night Terror

I was angry, tired and upset tonight and then Steffan picked me up from outside the club, said the right things and now I feel happier, calmer and ready to get up in 3 hours to watch the rugby! It is amazing how sometimes just being around your mates makes you feel better.

I'm a cat person.

It's not happening!

With everyone starting to go one way or another and leaving Cardiff it is the start of the goodbyes. Half of my housemates have left already- the house feels very empty and sad. I'm starting to come round to the idea of going home, working and saving some money so I might have to be saying bye soon too. Yesterday was one of the last chances to hang out with Omi so we took full advantage of the sun, went down the park and had champagne and strawberries!

Tom's leaving party is tomorrow night as he is abandoning us to go to Camp America! It sounds like he will have an amazing time and I'm jealous- but I'm going to miss him lots. Elly and I are going to hang out everyday and do cool things like go to London, maybe Harry Potter World while he's gone :P

Anyway, the point of this blog is that I hate that it's happening! Can't we have another couple of years of unemployed student bliss??

Cirque du Cardiff

The last of the Block C/109/126 shenanigans!

It's the little things.

My week in little things that have made a big impact on me:

It is the neighbour's kind words about my extraordinary Grandma and late Grandad.

It is handpicked gooseberries and freshly baked bread hand-delivered by a friend.

It is the comforting squeeze of a hand.

It is seeing your best friend when you absolutely needed them most.

It is how far people travel to say goodbye.

It is the laughter through the tears- 'so he sold his motorbike for an engagement ring'

It is taking two minutes to make someone a cup of coffee.

It is getting those cheesy texts that make you smile.

The Importance of Father's Day

It doesn't matter that the Father's day card was ripped open and sellotaped up before you had chance to open it- and there are alterations to the text in a different coloured pen, and that the price tag is still on it.

It wouldn't matter if I hadn't got you a card at all.

You know how much we love you and how important you are to us. You know that we listen to your opinions, respect your advice. We don't need to tell you that we are proud of you, and consider ourselves so lucky that you are our father.

Happy Father's Day Dad.

Old and the New Part II - Cameras

I really do have too many cameras. I aught to sell some of them...but I love them all!! Maybe I shall just designate a different camera for different months- at least that way I'd be using them. I haven't actually tackled the middle two film cameras yet. They pose different challenges but I'm interested and willing to give it a go.

At this time I want to clarify that the jazzy carpet is in the room I'm renting- it is not my personal choice :)

Old and the new

I went to write in my diary tonight and all the loose (precious) junk fell out. Cue me rifling through it all, curious about what was in the pile.

Photos, tickets, postcards, money left over from holidays, business cards and this:

A business card for The George hotel in Stamford. One of the last places I visited with my Grandad. So this post is a little bit of a continuation of things I remember about my Grandad (I can imagine that some of you who read this are thinking 'So what', but hey, my blog my rules. This is what I want to write about). That day was perfect. I love how Grandad always seemed to know everything- As we strolled out onto the main street after a delicious meal (yum), he was telling me about how it was one of the main through roads in the horse and cart days and pointing out structural things about the building and all sorts of little facts that unfortunately are lost to me. I wish I had a better memory! But I have always been more of a visual person.
